This eye-watering deal sees Liverpool eclipse Chelsea’s £115m purchase of Moises Caicedo, which had previously held the record for the highest transfer fee paid by a British club. Wirtz will become just the 10th footballer in history to be transferred for a fee north of £100m, placing him among an elite group of players such as Neymar, Kylian Mbappe, and Jude Bellingham.
Wirtz's composure, creativity, and tactical intelligence have seen him attract interest from elite clubs across the continent, including Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, and Manchester City.
